A great \u00ab\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Organ_trio\" target=\"_blank\">organ trio<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb album recorded for the label <strong>Blue Note<\/strong> in 1964. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The title <strong><em>Talkin&rsquo; About J.C<\/em><\/strong> probably pays tribute to saxophonist <strong>John Coltrane<\/strong>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.matthieumarthouret.com\/espace-pedagogique\/partitions-and-jazz-lead-sheets\/standards-compositions\/larry-young-paris-eyes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Larry Young<\/a> is known to be one of the first jazz organist inspired by McCoy Tyner&rsquo;s comping. (relative major) and coming back to <em>G mi<\/em>n. (instead of the usual <strong><em>II-7(b5)\/ V7<\/em><\/strong> in <em>G min<\/em>. &nbsp;Larry Young is sometimes using these chords during the solos&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coda<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As a <strong>coda<\/strong>, &nbsp;Larry Young is playing some typical <em>voicings<\/em> inspired by the approach of <strong>John Coltrane<\/strong> and <strong>McCoy Tyner<\/strong>. A \u00ab\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Modal_jazz\" target=\"_blank\">modal<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb approach of comping, using a lot of fourth and triads voicings.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Here is L.Y&rsquo;s comping (from what I hear, but I think it&rsquo;s getting close to the actual chords). L.Y is switching from the I- chord (G-) to a fourth degree related chord : <em><strong>C-, Eb or F7<\/strong>.<\/em>..<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img
