Découvrez SPRINGBOK la formule renouvelée et élargie du projet BOUNCE, initié en 2012 autour de l’organiste Matthieu Marthouret. Une instrumentation peu commune faisant la part belle au souffle, au groove et à la mélodie.
Le quartet SPRINGBOK propose un répertoire original aux sonorités nourries de la riche histoire du jazz. Quatre musiciens soudés et investis jouant un jazz vivant et chaleureux.

DW est une composition originale écrite en référence au musicien, chanteur et poète Réunionnais Danyèl Waro. Waro est à l’origine du renouveau du maloya, une musique traditionnelle très populaire sur l’île de la réunion issue de l’esclavage souvent comparée au blues de l’amérique du Nord. Fréquemment associée au chant et à la danse, le maloya est une musique où le rythme et la répétition tiennent une place centrale amenant provoquant parfois un état ou sentiment hypnotique, proche de la transe.

SPRINGBOK is the new version of organist Matthieu Marthouret’s BOUNCE project, started in 2012. An uncommon quartet featuring tenor saxophone, trumpet, organ and drums.
SPRINGBOK’s répertoire is nurtured with the whole history of modern jazz. SPRINGBOK regroups four dedicated musicians playing contemporary jazz rooted in the rich history of this art form.

DW is an original composition written by Matthieu Marthouret as a tribute to Danyèl Waro, singer, musician and poet from Reunion island. Maloya music is one of the most important traditional music from the Réunion area which regains popularity with the help and the work of Waro during the last four decades. Usually associated with songs, dance and percussions, Maloya is a high emotional music with hypnotics and repetitive rhythms sometimes inducing a very powerful trance state.
